Description

This document is a map from a 1894 real estate brochure showing Lake Ellyn, the Glen Ellyn Hotel and nearby mineral springs, and Stacy Park. The lake was created in 1889 when Thomas E. Hill, L.C. Cooper, and W. H. Luther, who formed the Prospect Park Improvement Association, dammed one of the springs that ran in the area. The Glen Ellyn Hotel that existed on the shore of Lake Ellyn from 1892-1906 when it was destroyed by fire.
