Building the Boathouse
The Citizens for Glen Ellyn Preservation created a history of the Boathouse for the Historic Home Tour in 2010.
The first of Frederick G. Walker's plans for the Boathouse shows the foundation plan, main wall and window details, main gable and end wall details, and details of reinforcing the Recreation Room floor.
The second of Frederick G. Walker's plans for the Boathouse shows the floor plan, a site plan, skater's lockers, and details of the floor.
The third of Frederick G. Walker's plans for the Boathouse shows the south and east elevations, and two sections.
The fourth of Frederick G. Walker's plans for the Boathouse shows north and south elevations, sections, an elevation of the kitchen counters, and details of the north and south entrance.
The opening of the Recreation House was a great success according to this article published in The Glen Ellyn News and The Glen Ellyan on November 19, 1937.
This is a view of the Boathouse from 1954-1964. The boat ramp was later replaced by the current deck.
